I recently got the new macbook pro 2018 and would like to look after the battery better as i need it for university and would keep it for at least 3 years. Then re connect the charger. Whenever i m at home at work or at the coffee shop i keep my macbook pro plugged in and avoid having the battery go below 80. Why is 15 beeping intermittently when the charger is plugged in apr 28 2012. Should i use my mac without having it plugged once in awhile. Should i be worried about it. If i keep it plugged in when the battery is fully charged it basically has a protection to overcharge or in other words the macbook will stop charging the battery and the macbook will run over regular power from the charger. Today there are many different things working together to keep your battery healthy while plugged in on.
The only time i unhook mine from the charger is when i calibrate. The battery might suffer but if it s always plugged in than you re good. Or keeping the computer plugged into the wall at 100. Lately it emits a single beep every 5 minutes while it s running charger power.

Shut down the macbook pro at night and remove the charger or unplug it at the wall. I understand that they are lithium ion batteries and have a recommended max cycle counts of 1 000.
My most concern was that it will make the battery bad if you keep it charging and plugged in. It is ok to leave your battery hooked to the charger most of the time. You should calibrate your battery once a month.
