Charger Light Turns Off When Plugged Into Laptop

The lights on the ac adapter original are off.

Charger light turns off when plugged into laptop. You tested a different battery. Here i described how to find the faulty components and repair. I unplugged my charger and it worked fine. The green light on the charger comes on but when i plug the the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off i have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing and under both conditions the laptop will not power up and no lights appear on it.

One night i downloaded the windows 10 update. When the battery is connected and you power the laptop it draws too much juice and the charger dies. Inspirion 1501 about 3 years old. If i plug the adapter to the wall the adapter lights turn on but when i plug it into the laptop the adapter lights turn off immediately.

Note that i downloaded the update with my laptop unplugged. You could have a bad battery pack with one or more bad cells. When plaged in laptop charger into laptop charger light goes off because of short circuit. The ac adapter and battery were in.

The next day i try to use my laptop only to find that when i plugged in the charger the screen went black black as in as if it had turned off. Since the adapter at the laptop end was falling apart and duct taped anyways i figured it was just conking out but then i saw the indicator light on the power brick was off. Shortly thereafter the led went off again. I was working on my dell latitude e5540 and suddenly it turned off. I removed the case for power supply did some wiggling and when i plugged it back in the led indicator came on.

So last night my laptop was running fine on battery power but then it was running low so i plugged in the power cord. So every time i plug in my charger the screen blacks. What you describe could be a few different things. Now it won t turn on.

The green light on the adopter glows when i dont plug in the charger in to my laprop but as soon as i plug in the pin into my laptop it goes off so the battery is not getting charged i came to know that is might be due to a short circuit in the motherboard my doubt is will the laptop work on the charged battery or else the laptop is completely dead. If you have tried two different power supplies and both behave the same charger light goes off when plugging into the laptop then it s more likely something is wrong with the mainboard or any other device that is connected to it short circuit if you have easy access to cdrom drive hard drive and memory modules disconnect remove them but i won t give you much hope mainboard screen or power.
